Free Yourself from the Past

Personalized Trauma Therapy

Do you find yourself thinking about a incident, event or even a long term situation that you were trapped in? Maybe you have thoughts or images of the event that intrude during your day. Perhaps you feel unpleasant emotions and you are trying to push them away and all you want is to just feel like yourself again. Are there moments where you feel anxious and overwhelmed on a daily basis? Maybe it's the opposite and you feel sad or miserable for no particular reason?

Do you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night from nightmares? Do you feel a sense of pain or fear sometimes in the body and you can’t pinpoint it’s origin? Perhaps you feel like what happened could happen again at any moment. You feel anxious and jumpy all the time.

The majority of people on the planet have experienced a form of trauma.  Trauma manifests in the body and brain in a variety of ways and it's completely normal to have a "trauma" response to an unpleasant incident, unexpected event or strong emotional situation. Trauma often sneaks up us after we have experienced it and can show up years after surviving experiences. It can be single incidents like a car crash, witnessing a death or surviving a physical or sexual assault. Trauma can also come from long-term stressful events such as abuse or neglect in childhood, being in a relationship with an alcoholic partner or having an abusive boss. Trauma stops many people from living fully and can have debilitating repercussions like relationship issues, addiction problems, anxiety and depression and even struggles with work and day-to-day living.

The latest psychological research is pointing to trauma not only effecting regions of the brain, but significant parts of the nervous system and regulatory systems in the body. What is happens to your mind and body after trauma is a natural biological and psychological response. It's ok to feel what you are feeling, and it's absolutely normal to "not get over something." What is being found in research is that trauma often remains unprocessed in the body and brain  because the person does not know how to process that trauma and this is where we can work together to help the trauma get processed correctly.
