Rebecca Stokes

I am a licensed clinical mental health therapist in Bozeman, Montana who specializes in relationships, trauma, PTSD, addictions and related issues . I help people work through childhood trauma and adult trauma to create positive change. I use evidence-based and effective therapy modalities like EMDR therapy, Somatic Experiencing therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, family systems and attachment therapy, PTSD treatment and self-esteem improvement. I believe in creating a supportive, safe environment where we can work together to find a solution.

My graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Therapy is from Northern Arizona University. I did my clinical hours at the Meadows Behavioral Health, a leading trauma and addiction facility in Wickenburg, Arizona. I am trained under the senior fellowship of Claudia Black, Pia Mellody, Patrick Carnes, Bessel Van Der Kolk and Peter Levine. Northern Sun Therapy in Bozeman, Montana is my private therapy practice.

 

I also specialize in treatment for active duty military, veterans and first responders that are suffering from PTSD and past trauma that is holding them back in everyday relationships, careers and from living fully.  I work with depression, anxiety, unhealthy coping, couples issues,  and addictions that arise from experiencing trauma. I am trained in addressing shame, guilt and the human side of trauma as a counselor in Bozeman.  

 

I take a humanistic approach and offer support, guidance and encouragement as we work through tough emotions and experiences.

I am a long-time journalist and writer specializing for many years in sports. I have also been a business owner in the wellness and fitness industry for 10 + years.  I am a certified personal trainer, certified yoga instructor and incorporate mindfulness and wellness into treatment, including offering workshops and classes, especially in guided meditation.
